Installation

Here’s the “before” view of it going on to my Lab’s Standard Edition Front-End:

Don’t forget to run bootstrapper, as there’s an update to the Modern Admin Control Panel (MACP) in this update. You’ll usually find bootstrapper in C:\Program Files\Skype for Business Server 2019\Deployment.

Reboot?

The installer didn’t prompt me to reboot, but I always like to give it one for good measure.

  1. Grieg. Hi, I always check your site for any CU gotchas. We had nothing but issues after the December update – mostly minor niggles. Like you, we did the usual update installer method followed by the update to the BE databases (with the -SqlInstanceName switch they always miss).
Then we found this hidden away in the install instructions page. You have to read it 6 or 7 times before it makes sense.
About 1/4 of the way down here – ‘removal information’. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/topic/december-2021-cumulative-update-7-0-2046-385-for-skype-for-business-server-2019-core-components-0d41b0cc-57fa-40e2-8b89-6d6c7e0daaa9

You must uninstall all cumulative updates of core components that are at version 7.0.2046.123 or a later version before you uninstall the cumulative updates for Skype for Business Server 2019 (Front End server and Edge server) that are at version 7.0.2046.116 or a later version. Otherwise, you won’t be able to start the RTCSRV service.

To remove these cumulative updates, follow these steps…………
