SfBS 2019 HF1 – June 2019

Not to be confused with the somewhat overdue arrival of a CU1, this release – the first for SfBS2019 – is but a hotfix.

This took only one component on my Standard Edition Front End from 7.0.2046.0 to 7.0.2046.116.

What’s Fixed?

This update enables Location-Based Routing to support Skype for Business mobile clients. It also fixes the following issue:

  • Event ID 12290 and “The evaluation period… has expired” error during deployment by using Skype for Business Server 2019 evaluation software.

What’s New?

Nothing noted. No new commandlets are added to the PowerShell module in this update.

Database Updates

With most CU’s there are database updates, but this update looks to be a little’un, and so we’re spared. As you can see my Installed versions all equal the corresponding Expected version:

Reboot?

The installer didn’t prompt me to reboot, but I always like to give it one for good measure!

  1. And patch size is 437 Mbytes… containing not very new SQL Express inside, which is pretty useless.
IMHO Microsoft totally don’t give a ### about this product anymore.
Lots of things need to be fixed – CLS, Exchange 2019 discovery, many unused params in cmdlets – and only LBR in patch? – pathetic.

    • Oh, don’t worry, I’m sure that’s all coming – it’s just that by the look of it they needed to get this one out the door in a hurry.

I think Microsoft painted themselves into a corner with the announcement of all the new functionality that will ship with CU1, and it’s probably taking a little longer in the oven to cook it all properly.

I expect CU1 will be a DOOZIE when it finally makes it out the door.
