One user’s calls won’t sim-ring

I encountered an interesting situation this week where a user’s calls wouldn’t sim-ring. All of the evidence said it was active, but it just wouldn’t happen; there was no attempt to initiate the sim-ring leg when an incoming call arrived. Sim-ring remained visible to the client, was captured in the XML in his client’s Lync-UccApi-0.UccApilog, …

Update-SfbCertificate.ps1

Skype for Business – like so much else these days – relies on PKI certificates, and the community has risen to the opportunity with some great tools to help us manage them. Here are two in my “essentials” kit: Check out the “Lync Certificates Report“: If you’ve not found it already, Guy Bachar & Yoav …

Lync 2013 Server Update – April 2016

An April update to the Lync 2013 server has landed, taking the server from 5.0.8308.945 to 5.0.8308.949. Five components are patched, however as at this date (April 16th) the Kb article – or at least the version dished by Microsoft’s CDN to me in Sydney – hasn’t been updated with the content, and one of …

Lync Server 2013 Update – January 2016

This update takes two components on the server from 5.0.8308.941 to 5.0.8308.945, although – as with the December update that gave us .941 – I’m still struggling to see the point of one of them. What’s Fixed? It looks like the sole (documented) fix is for the Web Components and relates to the “You can’t …

Lync Server 2013 Update – December 2015

This update takes the server from 5.0.8308.933 to 5.0.8308.941, although I’m struggling to see anything that’s actually fixed or changed at this stage. What’s Fixed? Nothing apparently! According to the kb articles, this cumulative update simply resolves issues that have previously been resolved in earlier updates this year! What’s New? Nothing apparently. Download Download the …

Quick Tip: Am I SE or EE?

I occasionally find myself thrown into a strange Lync or SfB environment – sometimes it’s even a TeamViewer session – and I need to hit the ground running and start discovering what’s going on. Quicker than running up Topology Builder or wading through the output of Get-CsPool, “Get-CsComputer –Local” will tell you very quickly if the …

Lync 2013 Server Update – July 2015

July 10th saw an update to the Lync 2013 Server components. In a break with tradition, *every* installed component gets an update, so now they’re all at 5.0.8308.920. The reasoning for this is not yet clear. What’s Fixed? There are a handful of fixes, but lots of generic “improves the reliability, stability, and performance of…”. …
